Oskar von Miller was a pioneer and advocate of a well-rounded and practice-oriented academic education. The Oskar-von-Miller Polytechnic, the largest predecessor institution of Hochschule München, is named after him.

Once a year, Hochschule München honours outstanding achievements at a ceremony named after Oskar von Miller. The so-called ‘Oskars’ are awarded for achievements in the catergories: Outstanding Graduation Theses, Quality in Teaching, Outstanding Doctorate, Applied Research and Industry Partner.

On 23 April 2026, it was once again time to say: “And the Oscar goes to...”

At the ceremony named after Oskar von Miller, outstanding achievements were once again recognised.

The theme of this year’s ceremony centred on ‘cinematic dream couples’. From ‘Lady and the Tramp’ to ‘Laurel and Hardy’ – well-known film duos formed the thematic framework of the celebration and ensured entertaining and, at times, nostalgic moments during the awards ceremony.
