Benefits of a professorship at HM
14 departments, over 100 degree programmes, interdisciplinary research, an interdisciplinary school for digital sciences and AI (MUC.DAI), a centre for entrepreneurship (SCE), innovative, high-calibre teaching, top positions in national and international university rankings: HM is one of the most diverse and leading Universities of Applied Sciences (HAW) in Germany.
They do not merely impart academic content, but also share their own practical experience. Students benefit in many ways from their application-oriented knowledge and skills. Together, they benefit from the excellent student-to-staff ratio and close collaboration: they know all the students and are able to provide them with individual support. In the laboratory or on projects, they work together to tackle practical issues.
Teaching and conducting research – on your own projects or collaborative ones –, maintaining networks, helping to shape our university, and taking on responsibility: as a Professor at HM, you can make the most of the considerable freedom you are given, continually seize new opportunities and fulfil your potential to the full.
HM carries out Applied Research and development – in close collaboration with partners from industry, civil society and the political sphere. In this way, we ensure that our work is closely aligned with real-world practice.
Munich is a business hub and centre of innovation; the start-up scene is booming and benefits from a high-performing infrastructure. The path from the research laboratory to practical application – both within the region and across Europe – is short, and the partner networks are closely knit and very dynamic.

Typical HM: our approach
The atmosphere at Hochschule München is characterised by down-to-earth pride, a free spirit and a strong sense of community. Of course, competition in academia is motivating, but we prefer to focus on cooperation. We are outstanding, but not ‘exclusive’: we do not wish to exclude anyone, but rather seek to work together, even across subject areas. We are curious and driven by an entrepreneurial spirit. And we value an open-minded attitude, diversity, equal opportunities and female role models (find out more: #WerdeProfessorin )
