A two-week intensive course brought together students from partner universities MUAS and Cal Poly

As part of the strategic partnership initiative between Munich University of Applied Sciences (MUAS) and California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo (USA) (Cal Poly), the computer science departments of both universities held a 2-week-long intensive course on “Current Topics in IT Security” in Munich in June 2016.

A total number of 30 students (15 students from Cal Poly and 15 Students from MUAS) and eight professors discussed topics such as web application security, information security management, privacy and security in eHealth and cryptographic engineering, Cellular Security and WLAN Security.

The intensive course was organized by MUAS professors Hans-Joachim Hof, Gudrun Socher, Lars Wischhof, Alf Zugenmaier and Alexandru Soceanu together with their Cal Poly counterparts Zachary Peterson and Bruce DeBruhl and MUAS guest professor Hein Venter from South Africa.

The participants showed great international spirit and collaboration for a very important cause, security in the area of digitization. The intensive course sets a foundation for continued strategic collaboration of the partner universities in IT Security.

The strategic partnership is funded by the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) until 2018.
